Week 8 Recaps

WAS @ MIN – MIN

Kirk Cousins had a 88.46% completion rate Thursday night. Despite being so accurate, MIN only won by 10 points. Even though, Case Keenum went out with a concussion, which turned the tide, WAS was still able to hold of the Vikings’ offense to mostly field goals.

SEA @ ATL – SEA

The Seahawks dominated in the first half. In the second quarter alone, they were able to score 21 of their points. In the second half, Atlanta was able to score their 20 points. But the Falcons couldn’t hold off the Seahawks. They lost to Seattle by one possession.

LAC @ CHI – CHI LAC

Even with Keenan Allen dropping the ball followed by a Chargers’s missed field goal, they still won. Eddy Pineiro missed field goal at the end, losing the game for the Bears and causing the major upset. In an after game interview, Nagy stood by his final play decision to kneel the ball.

NYG @ DET – DET

In every quarter, DET scored. Against the Giants, the Lions scored 31 points, and they allowed 26 points to the Giants. They defended their home with a five point game.

NYJ @ JAX – JAX

This two possession game went to JAX. With NYJ scoring in the first and last quarter, they were able to get 15 first downs. But that was significantly smaller than JAX’s 21 first downs. JAX had 176 more yards than the Jets. No wonder the Jaguars won.

CIN @ LAR – LAR

Despite the Bengals have more possession time and more first downs, they couldn’t get more yards than the Rams. LAR had 470 yards whereas CIN managed 401. In one play, three Bengals had an opportunity for an interception. The ball bounced hand to hand, but they all missed. CIN is winless at 0 – 8 record.

TB @ TEN – TB TEN

It should have been a fumble and TB recovery with a TD. But the refs called the ball dead. In the close game, TB was able to score 20 points in the second and third quarters combined. However, TEN was able to stay in the lead to get their fourth win this season. Maybe it was partially due to TB taking out their own player during a play.

PHI @ BUF – BUF PHI

This surprising upset wasn’t even close. 31 – 13 and the Eagles are 4 – 4. BUF’s defense can normally hold back their opposition. However, during this game, the Eagles seemed to be unstoppable. They scored more than twice the points the Bills could get.

DEN @ IND – IND

Trailing Denver for nearly the whole game, Indianapolis was able to make a field goal with 22 seconds left on the clock, bringing them to the lead. Seconds ticked by as IND enjoyed being ahead of DEN by two points. The low scoring game showed that both defenses were busy.

ARI @ NO – NO

Unsurprisingly, with Drew Brees back, the Saints sealed their win with 31 – 9. The Cardinals were able to secure three field goals, scoring them nine points.

CAR @ SF – SF

SF took off this game. They are now 7 – 0, which is the second time in franchise history. They scored the most TD’s Sunday afternoon since 2003, and they made the most points since 1993. The game ended with a crazy 51 – 13.

OAK @ HOU – HOU

OAK was the first to score a TD this game. Entering the fourth quarter behind eight points, HOU managed to score 14 points taking them to the lead and securing their W by three.

CLE @ NE – NE

Entering this game, if the NE’s offense never scored this season, they’d still be 4-2-1. NE made 10 points in 50 seconds in the first quarter. No surprise NE won, but it was a surprise CLE was able to hold them back as much as they did. 27 – 13 showed that CLE’s defense was more of a challenge to NE than last week’s Jets’s defense.

GB @ KC – GB

First quarter, the Packers were in the lead. Second quarter had KC up by three. Third quarter, a tie. In the fourth quarter, both teams scored a touch down. Then GB pulled ahead, scoring their fourth touch down of the night. With Mahomes out for Kansas City, Moore had to step up as QB. But unfortunately, they were unable to beat the number one team in the NFC North. GB is now 7-1, and KC is 5-3.

MIA @ PIT – PIT

The Dolphins made their big splash in the first quarter. They scored 14 points and managed to hold off the Steelers. PIT had a rocky start, but in the second quarter, they looked like they were finally back in the swing of things. The Steelers won by two possessions, and the MIA Dolphins remain win-less.
