Wolves Become Liverpool’s 22nd Win in 23 Games

Roberto Firmino netted in the 84th minute, restoring his team’s 16-point lead with their 14th straight Premier League victory after Thurday’s game (23 Jan. 2020). Wolverhampton is now Liverpool’s 22 win in 23 league games.

Eight minutes into the game, Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson managed to redirect Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner past the Wolves’ keeper, Rui Patricio, scoring the first point of the game.

After the half-hour point, Sadio Mane left the field due to an injury, and Takumi Minamino stepped in. Even with Mane out and Minamino making his Premier League debut, Liverpool didn’t lose pace. At halftime, they were leading 1-0.

In the second half, the Wolves’ Raul Jimenez smashed a header and finally tied the game 1-1, resulting in Wolverhampton gaining momentum. But it wasn’t long kept. Liverpool soon took lead again thanks to Firmino.

“We had incredible chances in the first half, and then, at the end, it was a magic moment from Bobby [Firmino],” said Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp. “You just have to find a way to win and have someone who makes the perfect decision, and that was Bobby, again.”

This win keeps Liverpool 16 points ahead of Manchester City in the table.
